The 2009 Queensland Regional Arts and Culture Conference

The 2009 artspeak Conference (18-20 November 2009) brought together more than 200 arts industry practioners over three days and focused on: encouraging community participation and engagement through arts and culture; building strong communities; supporting vibrant regional arts and cultural practice; and activating creative spaces. Key speakers Eric Booth and Robyn Archer delivered speeches that generated lively debate.

Conference Overview

The Queensland Regional Arts and Culture Conference artspeak 2009 (18-20 November 2009) built on the strengths of Queensland's regional arts and cultural sector bringing together more than 200 arts participants and practitioners from across the state and provided a valuable opportunity to explore new ideas and partnerships to ensure all Queenslanders have access to arts and culture.

The artspeak conference drew upon the success of the long-running Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) and was broadened to help identify future directions and to share excellence.

The four artspeak themes were: encouraging community participation and engagement through arts and culture; building strong communities; supporting vibrant regional arts and cultural practice; and activating creative spaces.

The first day of the conference, 18 November, was open to RADF personnel only, followed by two further conference days open to all delegates (19 and 20 November).
