The Queensland Government supports arts and cultural activities in communities throughout Queensland.

Some of the organisations and initiatives funded in 2008-2009 by the Queensland Government include:

Initiatives

  • Regional Arts Development Fund - supports the professional development and employment of arts and cultural workers in regional Queensland. RADF is a partnership between State Government, through Arts Queensland, and your local council.
  • NAIDOC Week - This annual national event celebrates the survival of Indigenous culture and the contribution of Indigenous people to contemporary Australia.
  • Artist in Residence (AIR) program – a joint initiative of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, Education Queensland and the Australia Council for the Arts for innovative education and arts projects up to $20,000. Open to Queensland schools or clusters, artists and arts workers, arts and cultural organisations and professional associations.
