Creative Communities Sector Development Plan (PDF 1370KB)

'Most creative communities around the world don't have cultural centres, they have people' – Creative Communities focus group participant.

Queensland is a regionalised state and local identity and culture is important to all sections of the community. Cultural identity and a knowledge of the place we live in are inextricably linked. Whether living in Brisbane, a regional city, remote town or as a new member of these communities, Queenslanders should be supported as creators of their own culture, not just consumers of cultural product.

Initiatives

  • NAIDOC Week – This annual national event celebrates the survival of Indigenous culture and the contribution of Indigenous people to contemporary Australia.
  • Q150 External Link – Community funding for Queensland's 150th celebrations.
