The Queensland Government supports arts and cultural festivals throughout Queensland.
Festivals are important for developing home-grown arts. They provide an opportunity for stretching the boundaries to present new productions to new audiences. Festivals also provide a vehicle to present high quality nationally and internationally acclaimed productions.
Festivals that are funded include a wide range of artforms and geographical locations. Because of the Government support provided, festivals are able to subsidise ticketed events, enabling increased opportunity for community participation. This reduces the real cost to the public of accessing quality arts and cultural experiences.
