Central to inclusion is a commitment to the idea that the arts are for everyone. Queensland's cultural life is enriched by the many and varied values, beliefs, interests, passions and talents of the people who make up our communities.
It is recognised that some people experience particular barriers to participating in the arts - for example, due to financial circumstances, geographic location, language, age or disability.
Part of Arts Queensland's role is to help build an arts sector that is responsive to the needs and interests of a diverse range of people in the community.
Policies and strategies which guide Arts Queensland's work in promoting inclusion in the arts include:
Fast facts: People and communities - summary of key information about people living in Queensland and their participation in arts and culture. Use this information to help plan and deliver arts and cultural activities and programs.
Case studies - about artists from diverse backgrounds and good practice initiatives aimed at increasing participation in the arts by a diversity of people. Case studies involve artists and organisations sharing their learnings. Arts Queensland will continue to add more case studies over time.
Grants - information about grants to support arts and cultural activities and projects. People from a diversity of backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Translated information - information about Arts Queensland translated into other languages.
