Theatre takes many forms. In addition to the standard narrative dialogue style, it can include dance, clowning, comedy, circus, musical, physical theatre, cabaret and opera. Since 1999, Arts Queensland has supported a range of theatre practitioners including playwrights, performers, producers, arts organisations, companies, venues and festivals from the community, independent and mainstream sectors with operational funding of more than $15m and project funding of around $2.5m.

The awards offer Australian established and aspiring authors the opportunity to gain recognition in the literary community as well as providing financial assistance to support the development of high quality writing.

  • APAM – Arts Queensland is committed to showcasing Queensland artists and arts organisations at the biennial Australian Performing Arts Market.

  • Arts Queensland and the Australia Council are joining forces to create a supportive structure that will produce and manage selected Queensland theatre and dance groups, enabling them to create, present and tour their work more effectively within Queensland, nationally and internationally.
