The Brisbane Writers Festival is an annual literary event in Queensland. Having grown rapidly from an extensive early history as Warana Writers Week, the Brisbane Writers Festival is now a showcase for local, national and international writers attracting an ever-expanding and dedicated audience. The 2008 Festival, with Michael Campbell as Festival Director, will take place from 17 - 21 September.
The Festival program features award winning and best selling writers while also providing a platform for emerging writers to launch their careers and showcase their work. These writers take part in panel sessions, performances, book launches, discussions, interviews and more as they present, debate, challenge each other and engage their audiences over this jam packed event.
Audiences will attend sessions covering a wide range of topics and writing genres including science writing, science fiction & fantasy, crime writing, fiction and history, biography, children's literature, poetry, humour, playwriting, journalism, illustration and literary criticism.
