The annual Craft Queensland Mentorship Grant for Emerging Designers enables an emerging practitioner to develop his or her practice through a three-month mentorship process with a more established senior practitioner.

In 2006 the grant was awarded to Jenni Baxter and her mentoring partner Lasse Kinnunen from Brisbane design firm DEKA.

Jenni is utilising Lasse’s extensive experience in furniture design and manufacture to assist with the development of her own design through to prototype. Jenni's multidisciplinary design practice encompasses many forms including three-dimensional, interior, graphic, product, set, lighting, furniture and installation.

Ms Baxter’s award-winning design, the Soundscape chair, is derived from the contours of sculpted sound waves.
