Public Art's latest achievement |
|||
For the past eight years Arts Queensland has led the way in the development of public art policy and putting public art throughout Queensland. One of the latest examples was unveiled at the Bowen Courthouse in November, in the form of etched glass integrated into the redevelopment of the historical building. Designed by well known print work artist Ron McBurnie, the four glass windows feature scenes of Bowen's rich history and promising future including images of Lady Liberty, the Bowen landscape prior to development, people and events captured outside the courthouse in early photographs and Bowen’s developing port. McBurnie's work is a shining example of the high professional standards that have been established as a result of Arts Queensland’s public art policy. Arts Queensland's new public art policy, art+place, will continue to support and develop the best practice model for the procurement of public art across Queensland.
