The Workshops Railway Museum wins at Queensland Tourism Awards
Marketing and Sales Manager, Glenn Price and Director, Andrew Moritz with the 2007 Queensland Tourism Award

The Workshops Rail Museum was recognised for excellence in the tourism industry winning the Queensland Tourism Award for Heritage and Cultural Tourism at the Queensland Tourism Awards, held in mid November.

The Ipswich tourist attraction was also named 2007 finalist in the tourist attraction category.

The Workshops Rail Museum’s Director Andrew Moritz said the award was a wonderful tribute to the talented team at the Museum.

"To be recognised as the best heritage and cultural tourism attraction in Queensland is an amazing honour," Mr Moritz said.

The Workshops Rail Museum will now contest the Australian Tourism Awards, to be announced on 29 February 2008 in Canberra.

Set in Ipswich, the birthplace of rail in Queensland, The Workshops Rail Museum showcases more than 15 interactive exhibitions that trace the history of rail and its impact on the lives of Queenslanders and its visitors.

Other award finalists included Outback at Isa, The Museum of Tropical Queensland, Fantasea Reefworld and the Australian Outback Spectacular.
