KickArts opens two innovative new exhibitions |
|||
KickArts Gallery Cairns is hosting two innovative exhibitions featuring art, craft and design pieces and works made from natural materials. In a joint initiative with Brisbane's Artisan, Blurred Boundaries: Intersecting territories of art, craft and design, running until 16 February 2008, explores what happens when works move parameters and don’t fit into traditional categories. Featured works cross boundaries from delicate, handmade pieces to works which refer to industry, technology and politics; works which appear solid like stone, but are made from foam and works that look like bone but are in fact porcelain. Also featured is Earthy: Nature and Essence, until 23 February 2008, which explores the subconscious mind and takes influence from the artists' experiences with the natural world. The exhibition will feature large scale installations and hanging works made from natural materials. Artists featured in the exhibitions include Keith Armstrong, Andrea Fisher, Inkahoots, Nicole Voevodin-Cash, Tijn Meulendijks, Yoshie Mizuno and Cara Stevens. For more information visit KickArts. |
