Philanthropic expertise to benefit Queensland arts |
|||
A newly-formed partnership between Arts Queensland and the Australia Council for the Arts, Artsupport Australia, will give Queensland artists a valuable boost in sourcing philanthropic funding. Artsupport Australia is a national program established in 2003 by the Australia Council to expand cultural philanthropy. Kathy Davis has been appointed Queensland Manager and will work closely with government, cultural, corporate, financial and philanthropic sectors to develop effective strategies for giving. "I will be working on developing philanthropy for the arts, mentoring arts organisations and meeting the giving needs of donors," Ms Davis said. "Arts Queensland clients, external arts organisations and artists seeking to develop new income streams will benefit through encouragement, mentoring and coaching in relationship development with potential and existing supporters." Funding will be sourced from individual philanthropists, through "prescribed private funds, trusts and foundations, direct private donations and corporate foundations." Ms Davis has previously worked in the arts and as a journalist and TV presenter. She is one of only 16 Queenslanders to achieve Certified Fund Raising Executive status and is a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia. Artsupport Australia will be based in Arts Queensland's offices at level 16, 111 George Street, Brisbane. For further information, visit Australia Council - Philanthropy. | |||
