Queensland dance and theatre groups get a boost |

A new four-year partnership between Arts Queensland and the Australia Council for the Arts will make local, national and international touring easier and more accessible for Queensland's theatre and dance groups.
Arts Queensland and the Australia Council will provide joint funding of $300,000 through the Managing and Producing Services (MAPS) partnership to create a supportive structure for theatre and dance groups from 2008 - 2011. MAPS gives a flexible support structure freeing artists from administration and giving them a chance to tap into the skills, networks and infrastructure normally available only to artists working for established arts organisations. Brisbane's Metro Arts, in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse, was successful in its application to set up management, administrative and marketing support to some of our state's most dynamic arts companies. Metro Arts and the Powerhouse will deliver essential administrative services, including contract negotiation, tour management and technical support. This will consolidate valuable resources and provide a supportive base, enabling the groups to focus on further developing their creativity. A management group with equal representation from Metro Arts and the Powerhouse will select the artist groups and ensure service is delivered in accordance with needs. | |
