International exposure gained through the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) in Adelaide earlier this year has won three Queensland companies lucrative overseas touring contracts.

Acclaimed contemporary circus company Circa; playwright Mark Bromilow's innovative multi-media theatre work The Window; and Brisbane-based production house Strut & Fret are soon to embark on tours of Europe, Asia and the United States.

Queensland companies were the stand-out performers at APAM, with a record seven acts chosen to showcase before an audience of 550 national and international festival and theatre directors, agents, producers and promoters.

The State Government, through Arts Queensland, provided essential support to allow Queensland performers to attend APAM in February by assisting with travel costs, hosting a reception for delegates and a stall, and creating promotional material.

Under this program Circa has received $15,265 to tour its latest production by the light of stars that are no longer... to 15 venues in Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium; $14,880 has been put toward staging The Window in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macao; and Strut & Fret Production House has received $9,855 to take its dynamic Tom Tom Club to the Rotorua Festival of Arts, New York's Victory Theatre and a tour of The Netherlands.
