GoMA welcomes 100,000th visitor to Picasso and his Collection
Arts Minister, Rod Welford, welcomes Renee Montgomery, the 50,000th visitor to Picasso and his Collection
Less than two months after its opening on 9 June, Picasso and his Collection welcomed its 100,000th visitor to the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA).

More than 2200 people a day have visited the exhibition in its first showing outside Europe, making Picasso and his Collection an overwhelming success for GoMA.

The incredible interest in the exhibition has cemented Brisbane's reputation as a premier destination for cultural tourism, following on from the success of GoMA's Warhol exhibition in drawing visitors from across Queensland, Australia and overseas.

The flow-on effect has also drawn visitors to the Queensland Art Gallery, with 95,000 people visiting the free Sidney Nolan: A New Retrospective exhibition.

The exhibition is also proving popular with students and young people, with GoMA receiving bookings for more than 10,000 students to visit the exhibition before it closes on 14 September. The Up Late program of music and guest speakers has also been a big success.

The Queensland Government has supported the exhibition through Queensland Events Corporation and the Queensland Government's Exhibition Indemnity Scheme. Picasso & his collection was also made possible by Art Indemnity Australia, an Australian Government program through which the Commonwealth acts as insurer.
