Sixteen students from across Queensland are in Brisbane from 3-9 August for the inaugural Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Film, TV and New Media 2008.

The students are learning about the industry from some of Australia's best - participating in master classes and forums and visiting organisations including Cutting Edge, Warner Brothers Roadshow Studios Queensland, Photon VFX, The Creative Assembly, the Griffith Film School and the Queensland University of Technology's Creative Industries Precinct.

Grant Marshall, from Blacklab International, a local director who has shot music videos for internationally renowned bands The Living End and The Presidents of the United States of America will guide the students in a multi-cam studio shoot.

The students will also attend the St. George Bank Brisbane International Film Festival, the Warner Roadshow Studios Queensland New Filmmakers Awards, and their own ceremony when Minister for Education, Training and the Arts, Rod Welford will present them with their awards.

For those students selected for an award, this program is a significant step towards achieving long-held dreams of a career in the industry.
