Queensland theatre star runs away to Cirque de Soleil
Queensland's theatre scene has farewelled actor, writer and director Mark Bromilow – for the time being at least – as he heads off to Europe to become artistic director of Cirque de Soleil's Varekai.

Mark's most recent success was The Window, a beautifully realised multi-media production that charts one woman's voyage of discovery and reconciliation. The Window premiered in Brisbane in 2006, went on to win rave reviews in Japan and at this year's Adelaide Fringe Festival and is currently touring throughout Asia. The Window returns to Queensland for a season at the Brisbane Powerhouse in June 2009.

Mark has been creating inventive, challenging, accessible work for more than 30 years on four continents. He trained at Paris's prestigious École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq and has worked extensively in France and Canada. As a writer and producer, Mark is driven by a desire to transcend the boundaries between language, culture, art form, style and process.

Arts Queensland is looking forward to Queensland's audiences and artists being the beneficiaries of Mark's ever broadening skills base when he tires of travelling the capitals of Europe and returns to live and work on the Sunshine Coast.
