Community arts and cultural development regional services delivery pilot in Queensland

Arts Queensland and the Australia Council are working together to support a more coordinated and sustainable community arts and cultural development sector in Queensland.

The state and federal bodies have contracted three not-for-profit organisations to work during 2009 in Far North Queensland (Arts Nexus), Central East and South West Queensland (Creative Regions) and Central West Queensland (CICADAS with the Remote Area Planning and Development Board).

The project aims to improve access to funding information, support local communities by generating quality arts and cultural experiences and strategically plan for future cultural development.

Key stakeholders in regional communities will be consulted with an appropriate program developed for subsequent visits. Potential program activities include project planning assistance to arts and cultural groups; facilitation of community arts and cultural workshops and events; information and support services on funding opportunities; brokering partnerships with cultural, business and government agencies, and developing strategic project plans for implementation in 2010 and beyond.
