The Queensland Theatre Company takes to the stage throughout May and June in a hilarious insight into Gen Y life and love, and an intelligent comedy about a common power struggle. Winner of the 2008-09 Queensland Premier's Drama Award, Richard Jordan's comedy 25 Down is a fresh, fast and funny look into the lives of four Brisbanites taking on sex, relationships, Gen Y quarter-life crises and the generation gap. James is 25, an aspiring artist and utterly lost. His best friend Emma is stuck in a dead-end job, might be pregnant, and thinks she's in love with James. The trouble is James is gay. Simon and Gary are also looking to James for love. The quick-witted 25 Down explores truth, lies and stereotypes in Brisbane and the roles people are willing to play in order to be loved. The Queensland Premier's Drama Award is a biennial playwriting competition and is the only award in Australia which guarantees a professional production Queensland Theatre Company and Black Swan State Theatre Company also present the Australian premiere of Yasmina Reza's God of Carnage - winner of the 2008 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. A satire, God of Carnage explores the riotous power struggle that ensues when two couples get together to calmly discuss their children's schoolyard fight. Alain is a lawyer glued to his mobile and Annette is a well-heeled stock broker. Together they visit Michel, a company director and his wife Veronique, a successful author and sociologist. From genial hosts and gracious guests, to a couple vs. couple, husbands vs. wives, everyone turns on each other in an attempt to win the argument and prove who the better parent is.
