Ausdance – Tax Facts for Artists
Financial literacy workshop and Q&A, with Brian Tucker CPA includes: Taxation, ABN, invoicing, budgeting projects vs shows/presentations, expenses, income, valuing in-kind in dollars, value of an artist’s time in-kind, employer’s responsibilities for contracts, insurance as well as approaches to paying your contracted staff from project manager’s perspective. The event is free for Ausdance members, $10 for non-members. To be held on 19 October 2015 at Ausdance Office, Judith Wright Centre.

National Opera Review Discussion Paper released
On 25 September 2015, the National Opera Review Discussion Paper was released by the National Opera Review Panel. The Discussion Paper considers the financial viability, artistic vibrancy and audience access of Australia’s four major opera companies—Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, State Opera of South Australia and West Australian Opera. Those organisations are funded by the Australian Government and relevant state governments as major performing arts companies. Submissions are invited on the issues and options raised in the Discussion Paper by 26 October 2015. http://arts.gov.au/national-opera-review

Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF)
The GCBF distributes revenue from gaming taxes to various not-for-profit community groups throughout Queensland. Funding of up to $35,000 is available with the next grant round closing on 30 November 2015.

Australia Council – Four-Year Funding
Applications for Four-Year funding of between $75,000 and $300,000 close 1 December 2015 for arts organisations of significant regional, national or international standing. Organisations must demonstrate artistic achievement and ambition with a compelling five year strategic vision.

Playing Australia: Regional Performing Arts Touring Fund
The Regional Performing Arts Touring program supports performing arts to reach regional and remote communities across Australia. Grants are available to support the net touring costs associated with a national tour. There is no limit on the amount that can be requested. Applicants are strongly encouraged to speak with an Australia Council Grants Officer before applying to this fund. Applications close 1 December 2015.
