Opera singer Amanda Windred travelled to the United States to undertake live auditions for the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Young Artist Program in Chicago and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.
While in the US, Amanda worked with respected coach Giovanni Reggioli and director Chuck Hudson on development of character and musical interpretation.
Amanda’s experiences enabled her to secure many new connections for future opportunities. In addition, on the strength of her work with Giovanni in New York, Amanda has secured a contract with Opera Australia for the 2015 season.

Amanda’s experiences in America have given her an insight into the quality of Australian training and talent:
While in the USA, I had the opportunity to attend the finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. This was a wonderful opportunity to hear singers of a similar development and to attain knowledge as to whether we are on the right path in Australia.
Not only was I pleased with the outcome of the finals, it proved to me that we are getting world class training through our universities and are definitely competitive in the international market.
