CIAF offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover, learn and invest in Indigenous art. With an exciting showcase exhibition and boutique art fair, companion performances and workshops and the CIAF Symposium, the art fair offers something for everyone.
Set in the lush rainforest gardens of Tanks Art Centre, this exclusive event will celebrate Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, their art work and culture with a preview of the exhibition and performances by some of Queensland's most exciting Indigenous performers, to be announced soon.
Selected by CIAF Director Michael Snelling, with advice from a small curatorial team, the exhibition offers an insight into the unique Indigenous art movements within Queensland. Artists featured include leading urban artists and emerging artists from Indigenous art centres across the state.
This boutique event features several of Australia's leading Indigenous art galleries, selling alongside Queensland's Indigenous art centres. The galleries will focus on established and mid-career artists, while the art centres will introduce a new generation of exciting, emerging artists.
Work on sale at the art fair will encompass a broad spectrum of Indigenous arts practice, such as paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, photography, weaving, digital media, jewellery, craft and fabric.
Featuring some of Queensland's most exciting artists, the performance program at Tanks Arts Centre will celebrate Indigenous dance storytelling and music with live performances, workshops and exhibitions scheduled over three days. There will also be a chance to see artists at work with Djumbunji Press KickArts Fine Art Printmaking holding demonstrations by leading printmakers.
The festival will appeal to families, tourists and arts enthusiasts with free and ticketed events showcasing the region's rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
