CIAF will be set in the lush rainforest surroundings of Tanks Arts Centre, situated within the Cairns Botanic Gardens precinct.
Tanks Arts Centre is approximately 10 kilometres from the Cairns CBD and 4.5kms from Cairns airport.
The three 'tanks' that comprise the art centre are relics of World War II and were originally used as fuel storage tanks by the Royal Australian Navy.
Converted to a cultural centre in 1993, the Tanks provide a unique environment for CIAF 09.

Created to nurture the extraordinary talents of printmakers in this region, Djumbunji Press offers a full suite of studio services, including open access for printmakers, production facilities, workshops, accredited courses and artist in residence programs.
Djumbunji is a traditional word of the Gimuy Yidinji people meaning 'belongs to scorpion place' and honours the location of the press in the area of Bunda Djumbunji's Scorpion Mountain, the traditional name for the Whitfield Mountain range.

CoCA (as it is known to locals) brings together a variety of exciting art forms under the one roof.
A dynamic cultural facility in the heart of the city, CoCA is home to three arts companies: JUTE, a professional theatre company; KickArts Contemporary Arts; and the End Credits Film Club.
Offering exhibition and performance spaces, CoCa has attracted the attention of Cairns' creative community since its inception with its distinctive, colourful jelly baby sculptures adorning the exterior.
A FREE shuttle bus service to Tanks Arts Centre will run between the city centre and major hotels, with stops at the Cairns Regional Gallery and Centre of Contemporary Arts (CoCA).
Tanks Arts Centre has a full range of amenities to assist those with disabilities. The centre can readily accommodate wheelchairs, and all entrances are ramped. There are also specially designed toilets and telephone booths.
