Grant McLennan Memorial Fellowship

Established in 2007 in honour of the late Queensland singer-songwriter Grant McLennan, the $25,000 Grant McLennan Memorial Fellowship offers the recipient an opportunity to travel to New York, London or Berlin for up to 2 months and use the experience of being immersed in a foreign and vibrant musical culture to further develop their own artistic skills.

Grant was one of Australia's greatest songwriters and a founding member of internationally successful 1970's Brisbane band The Go-Betweens. See The Go-Betweens performing Streets of Your Town (external site).

Key Eligibility

This program is open to:

  • Individual songwriters
  • Songwriting teams of no more than 2 people.

You must:

  • Reside in Queensland and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Be a member or be eligible to be a member of Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA)
  • Have satisfied the reporting requirements of any previous Arts Queensland grants
  • Have an ABN or nominate an auspice body
  • Only submit one application in each round (eg songwriting duos may not also submit individual applications).

  3. Post five copies of the application form and support material to Arts Queensland.
