Creative Queensland – The Queensland Government Cultural Policy 2002 is the first whole-of-Government policy which sets the directions for the Queensland Government's future investment in arts and cultural development.
Creative Queensland is about ensuring that the Smart State is a creative State, where cultural activity is supported in all its many forms.
Creative Queensland sets a vision for Queensland to be a culturally dynamic place to live, to be rich in diversity and experiences – where ideas and talent are supported; where artistic and cultural pursuits are encouraged; and where the economy is enhanced by excellence in creative innovation.
Five Snapshots which accompany Creative Queensland highlight key investments in the areas of Indigenous Arts and Culture, Children and Young People, Regional Communities, Jobs and Training, and Creative Enterprise.
A companion document, Creative Government – Arts and Cultural Activity Across the Queensland Government, showcases a diverse and extensive range of arts and cultural activities supported by the Government through its departments and agencies.
The breadth and depth of activities outlined in Creative Government confirms the important role arts and cultural activity plays in the lives of all Queenslanders.
This is an exciting time for Queensland and the directions outlined in Creative Queensland will enhance the State's growing reputation as a culturally dynamic place to live.
