Arts Queensland is the Trustee of the Queensland Cultural Centre (QCC). The QCC is the nucleus of Queensland’s arts portfolio and occupies a prime location at Brisbane’s South Bank, adjacent to the city’s CBD. It is home to the state’s leading arts and cultural institutions:
- Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art
- Queensland Museum Kurilpa, Brisbane and SparkLab
- Queensland Performing Arts Centre
- State Library of Queensland including The Edge
This collection of co-located cultural institutions on a single site is unique in Australia and rare worldwide. Together with the South Bank Parklands, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and neighbouring institutions such as the Queensland Conservatorium, the QCC forms a concentration of cultural, educational, retail and recreational facilities.
If you would like to discuss venue hire options and availability for the cultural institutions listed above, please contact the cultural institutions directly.
If you would like to discuss venue hire options and availability for the external common areas across the QCC, please contact Arts Queensland.
The original buildings designed by Robin Gibson for the QCC were recognised by the Queensland Heritage Council on 12 June 2015 for their cultural heritage significance. Arts Queensland commissioned a Conservation Management Plan to provide a framework to maintain the integrity of the QCC and inform future planning and investment.
The stretch of the Brisbane River around Kurilpa Point is a traditional meeting, trading and hunting place for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Brisbane.
The QCC acknowledges the site's significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and celebrates their cultures through contemporary exhibition spaces and learning environments. Find out more:
