BAD – Brisbane Art and Design

Artist impression of Hoisted. Image courtesy inkahoots.Arts Queensland’s investment of $80,000 through the Open Air program creates jobs for inspirational artists and designers to produce outdoor artistic interventions for Brisbane audiences to immerse themselves in.

BAD festival 2021 will create amazing open-air visual and performance experiences for locals and visitors of Brisbane, with over 160 events over 60 venues across four weekends.

Tapping into a vibrant program of exhibitions and events to build stronger relationships with audiences. Some of the highlights will include

  • BAD Block Party with Blaklash, filling Brisbane’s Fish Lane with markets from First Nations makers, cocktails, circus dance, live music and tours of public artworks.
  • Infinite Space presented by the Institute of Modern Art.
  • Hot’n’Heinous presented by Innerspace Contemporary Art.
  • Live mural paintings as part of the Outer Space exhibition.
  • Radical Localism by artisan in Bowen Hills is an installation, community intervention combined with a QUT independent fashion symposium.

The events which encompass the festival is set to put Brisbane City’s thriving cultural identity on show to providing continued support for the arts sector as it recovers from the impact of COVID-19.
