QASP, touring and live music recipients

The latest outcomes from the Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP) - round 4, Touring Queensland Fund (TQF), Touring Queensland Quick Response Fund (TQFQ) and the Live Music Support Program are just some of the extensive range of funding programs that are supporting the Queensland arts sector.    

QASP - round 4 funding recipients

  • Mr Kirk Page - $19,100 for SMOKE, a contemporary dance theatre work in development. (Brisbane)
  • Ms Deborah Spann - $29,300 for BIG SKY GIRLS, an ongoing creative and professional mentoring program for 10 young women in regional Queensland. (Brisbane)
  • Pryce Centre For Culture & Arts Pty Ltd - $30,000 to continue empowering ‘at risk’ young people through the arts with hope, confidence, self-belief, skills, experience and creativity. (Cairns)
  • Shakespeare Under the Stars Inc trading as TheatreiNQ  - $49,000 for the re-imagining of Bertolt Brecht’s famous play about the rise of evil adapted by artistic director, Terri Brabon. (Townsville)
  • Miss Claire Marshall - $30,000 for Permutations, an immersive dance screen installation to occur at Brisbane Powerhouse. (Brisbane)
  • Broad Encounters Productions - $49,982 for A Midnight Visit’, a critically acclaimed immersive theatre production inspired by Edgar Allan Poe. (Brisbane)
  • Up In The Airlock - $60,000 for Up in the Airlock Season 2, a series of streamed performances that showcases emerging and established Queensland contemporary music artists. (Camp Mountain)
  • Ms Elaine Acworth - $40,052 for the live theatrical adaption of the AWGIE-nominated podcast series My Father’s Wars.  (Brisbane)
  • Mr Teho Ropeyarn - $30,000 for Mr Ropeyarn to undertake Injinoo Ikya Language group workshops and conduct research and filming on his Injinoo Country in Cape York, to create new contemporary artworks. (Cape York, Cairns, Sydney)
  • Quirky Productions - $60,000 for an innovative collaboration between new the inclusive company Quirky Productions and Queensland Symphony Orchestra. (Brisbane)
  • Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra - $59,950 to present three concert programs and seven education programs in Queensland. (Brisbane, Gold Coast)
  • Matrix Theatre - $29,876 to contribute to the Queensland premiere and season of “Diary of a Madman” in collaboration with Brisbane Powerhouse. (Brisbane)
  • University of Sunshine Coast - $49,200 to work on original projects and exchange knowledge and practice and engage across a range of interdisciplinary events and cultural experiences with local practitioners and communities. (Noosa, Sippy Downs, Maroochydore)
  • Mr Navin Sam Regi - $44,564 to develop a narrative spans multiple years and many families and is told in a creative collaboration between photography and audio storytelling. (Brisbane)
  • The Trustee for Drama Dragons Business Trust trading as Grin & Tonic Theatre Troupe - $54,855 for a 6-week creative development and design development costs of a new work titled, Lucky. (Cairns)
  • Island Vibe Pty Ltd - $58,928 to develop the fifth edition Island Vibe Festival, a 4-day celebration of music, arts and culture held on Minjerribah. (North Stradbroke Island)
  • Ms Ineke Dane - $9,710 to develop a curated group exhibition inviting multi-disciplinary creatives to respond to Critical Spatial Practice: exploring the cultural, social and political potential of architecture. (Brisbane, Syndey)
  • Cre8ion - $60,000 for the creative development of an original music work written and composed by Queensland artist Tarita Botsman and combining French music of the Baroque era (c.1600–1750) with operatic vocal performance, musical-theatre styles and orchestration traditions. (Brisbane)
  • Mr David Carberry - $50,880 for the development of a part Human art gallery, part sideshow, part performance art. (Brisbane)
  • Tropical Arts Association Inc - $57,980 for the development of a project that engages Cairns theatre creatives to weave stories of climate change into a condensed, dynamic “Hamlet” production. (Cairns)
  • The Naughty Corner Collective - $30,000 to create a visual theatre production inspired by the Ancient Greek Minotaur myth with support from Dead Puppet Society and Brisbane Powerhouse. (Brisbane)
  • The University of Queensland - $20,000 to provide time and space to emerging writer Ellen van Neerven for their creative development of new work enhanced by access to unique UQ collections. (Brisbane)
  • TWO Festivals Pty Ltd - $59,561 to develop Wynnum Fringe Festival 2021. (Wynnum)
  • Dr Michael Epworth - $18,500 to develop The Bell-Bodja project, a collaboration between the Bell Community Centre and Bodja Design (Dr Mike Epworth & Bronwyn Harm). (Dalby)
  • Hand Bent Banana Arts and Health Centre - $30,000 to activate a program of creative and professional engagement. (Tallebudgera Valley – Gold Coast)
  • Ms Sandra Selig - $23,798 to develop a solo exhibition to be presented by the University of Sunshine Coast Art Gallery and the University of New South Wales Galleries in 2022. (Sunshine Coast)
  • Republic of Song Pty Ltd - $28,406 to develop an immersive interactive performance telling the story of a young woman's life in the late 19th century in Australia. (Brisbane)
  • Ms Angela Murphy - $14,665 to create monologues and duologues that will be scripted and further workshopped via a creative development with actors and a director, culminating in a presentation of outcomes. (Cairns)
  • Cicada International Ltd - $60,000 to develop a women’s showcase in partnership with Digi Youth Arts featuring culturally diverse and LGBTQI+ Hip Hop artists, DJ’s and music practitioners to be presented as part of the 2021 Australian Women in Music Awards. (Brisbane)
  • Topology - $29,800 to develop Bigger than Texas! a 12-month creative program which includes a range of creative and community-driven activities in Texas, Inglewood, Kindon and Yelarbon. (Texas, Yerlabon, Inglewood, Kindon)
  • Brisbane Cabaret Festival Limited - $50,000 to produce story-telling through the medium of Cabaret, at QPAC and dedicated Queensland artists’ program at other venues around Queensland, as part of the multi-venue Queensland program of the 2021 festival. (Brisbane, Redlands, Gladstone, Mackay, Cairns, Ipswich, Caloundra)
  • Vast Yonder - $60,000 to develop Yonder Festival, a three-day immersive multi-arts festival experience in the rolling hills of Mary Valley, Queensland. (Gympie)
  • Delta Yarns - $59,970 to develop Re-Collections, which engages the Burdekin community with creatively retelling stories around place through fashion, art and writing. The workshops and shopwindow creations will culminate in a showcase event. (Burdekin)

 

Touring Queensland Fund (touring locations as at time of application)

  • The University of Queensland Anthropology Museum – $85,094 – to develop and present a collaboration exhibition with Mithaka Aboriginal Corporation to reflect author Alice Duncan-Kemp and the region of south-west Queensland, touring to Brisbane, Winton, Tambo, Biloela, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Birdsville and Townsville.
  • arTour - $78,942 –  Bigger & Blacker, an autobiographical comedy cabaret performed by Steven Oliver to 17 different Queensland communities.
  • Woodfordia Inc. - $50,000  – Festival of Small Halls Spring Tour, a folk and acoustic musician’s regional tour that will deliver performances and workshops to 15 remote and rural venues.
  • Australasian Dance Collective Limited – $64,248  - for the THREE tour, a dynamic and varied triple-bill of contemporary dance that will tour to Toowoomba, Ipswich, Bundaberg and Maryborough.
  • arTour – $135,562 –  Western Touring Circuit 2022 program to take 3 tours across Barcaldine, Blackall, Boulia, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Goondiwindi, Jundah, Longreach, Quilpie, Tambo, Thargomindah and Winton
  • Briefs Factory International - $70,900 for the development of the Briefs Factory Regional Queensland Tour that will visit Maroochydore, Brisbane, Gympie, Townsville, Cleveland, Bundaberg, Mackay, Cairns, Gladstone & Mount Isa.
  • Flipside Circus - $40,350 - 2021 North West Queensland Circus residency tour to North Burnett, Bowen, Julia Creek, Hughenden, Winton, Boulia, Blackall, and Tambo.
  • Moogool Enterprises -$9,560 – Wrapt in Mugul - Providing Central Queensland First Nations artists with the unique opportunity to share their stories through art in conjunction with an artists in residence school’s program in Bororen and Miriam Vale.
  • shake & stir - $62,718 - 2021 Term 3 Schools Tour to primary and secondary schools, presenting seven productions and engaging young people with theatre
  • ArTour - $25,704 - Funny Mummies Northern Queensland Tour is a mothering themed stand up show, encouraging the audience to laugh at ever relatable domestic dramas of parenthood to be presented in Croyden, Einsaleigh, Forsayth, Georgetown, Innisfail, Mount Surprise, Normanton and Oak Park.   
  • ArTour for shake & stir- $91,400 - Animal Farm is a multi-award-winning production by shake & stir and will tour – Bundaberg, Caloundra, Cairns, Ipswich, Mackay, Maryborough and Townsville.  

 

Touring Queensland Quick Response Fund (to 13 August 2021)

  • Shock Therapy Arts Ltd. - $7,374 –Shock Therapy’s 2021 schools tour - Cairns, Mossman and Trinity Bay areas.
  • Jally Entertainment / John M Bailey - $9982 - Goldilocks Rocks interactive and educational children’s theatre performance tour to regional areas in Queensland  
  • Momentum Arts – Nigel Lavender - $19,507 – Edge of the Present to create a virtual reality environment for suicide prevention presented on Gold Coast and in Warwick.
  • Western-Dyer Productions – $ 12,617 - 1954: Ella Etta Eartha & Disco Rainbow Sparkle Dance Party - Performing in Murgon, Monto, Childers, Bundaberg and Nambour.
  • Casey Barnes Entertainment Pty Ltd - $17,748 - 2021 Regional Tour - Toowoomba, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Maroochydore, Burleigh (Gold Coast) and Brisbane. 
  • Eamon Sandwith - $17,895 - The Chats Regional Queensland Single Tour 2021 
  • Cilla Jane Pershouse -$20,000 –Mentorship Program and Theatre Showcase for Rural and Remote QLD Children -  Wondai, Kingaroy, Biggenden, Gayndah, Augathella, Tambo, Blackall, Winton, Cloncurry and Mount Isa.
  • Body and Soul Music and Events Sandra Beynon-Dick - $9,843 – Dancing Brolgas - Nelia, Julia Creek, Kynuna, Dajarra, Richmond and Cloncurry.  
  • Roy Kellaway - $14,740 –King Stingray - "Lupa" single launch and regional tour - Cairns, Townsville, Airlie Beach, Mackay, Rockhampton, and Toowoomba.
  • Ipswich City Orchestras Incorporated - $15,764 – Brass On Safari - Ipswich, Beaudesert, Boonah, Esk, Laidley.
  • The Trustee for The Huglin Family Trust - $15,467 – CQ Remote Youth workshops – Noosa.
  • Balonne Shire Council - $2,000 – Are You Lonesome Tonight – Balonne.
  • Clint Bolster - $18,330 – High Tea with Booff On Tour - Townsville, Noosa Alive Festival, Redlands and the Gold Coast.
  • Heart Futures Limited - $9,000 – The Cape York & Torres Strait Regional Showcase.
  • Ms Lorinda May Merrypor - $18,400 + $19,946 (total $37,846) – Some Kind Of Wonderful & Let's Connect Workshops
  • Box Jelly Creative - $17,740 – Reasons to Stay Inside – Cairns.
  • Monique Matthews - $14,510 – Grrls to the North Tour will elevate First Nations artists, touring award winning artist Jesswar - Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
