QASP Round 7 funding recipients for Arts Accelerate and Arts Activate

  • Belloo Creative - $30,000 to develop and present A Night at the Pink Poodle, the pop chamber opera adaptation of Matthew Condon’s classic Queensland novel (Surfers Paradise).
  • Ms Emily Hopley - $15,795 for a three-day training program for 10 emerging female-identifying Audio Engineers led by Audio Engineer/Producer Anna Laverty (Camp Mountain).
  • The Farm - $59,821 for the creative development of Stunt Double, an immersive performance of a 1970’s action film shoot and a satire of power and fame (Burleigh, Broadbeach).
  • Mrs Raphaela Rosella - $27,862 for the presentation of You’ll Know It When You Feel It, an immersive multi-authored art exhibition and public program in partnership with Sisters Inside and the Institute of Modern Art (Brisbane).
  • Tia Gostelow - $58,987 to record, release and market the third solo album for the First Nations singer-songwriter (Brisbane, Mackay).
  • Metro Arts Ltd - $23,640 to commission a new public art installation by Queensland visual artist Paula Dunlop outside Metro Arts within the West Village precinct (Brisbane).
  • HOTA Gold Coast - $43,925 for the creative development of WONDER 2023, an immersive arts experience focused on the development and presentation of First Nations stories, artists, and artwork in the HOTA outdoor precinct (Gold Coast).
  • Elise Greig Ltd (EG) - $15,900 to develop new music theatre work Florence Broadhurst based on the award-winning book by Helen O’Neill, in partnership with Metro Arts and Playlab Theatre (Tambourine Mountain, Brisbane).
  • Cairns Regional Council – $47,200 for creative development of new work Birmba led by Merindi Schrieber and a select creative team to premiere as part of Cairns Children’s Festival 2023 (Cairns).
  • S.L HINE & K.K WEISE - $13,788 for the Duration project which will develop, provide mentorship and present new work by visual artists at a dedicated Brisbane CBD gallery (Brisbane).
  • Dead Puppet Society - $60,000 to support 2022 program activities including the premiere of Holding Achilles with Brisbane Festival and QPAC, creative development of new commission We’re All Gonna Die by Maddie Nixon, and the delivery of The DPS Lab at Brisbane Powerhouse (Brisbane).
  • Good To Great Schools Australia - $59,720 for community arts project, Milbi Nganhthanun: Our Stories, commemorating the forced removal of the Guugu Yimithirr people and chronicling the work of community leaders who agitated for their return (Hope Vale).
  • Ms Madeliene Cocolas - $3,000 to deliver an online experience to accompany the release of Magic City Counterpoint’s debut EP, in collaboration with game developers Fuzzy Ghost (Brisbane).
  • Ms Chloe Williamson - $28,600 for Brisbane Tango Orchestra to commission, record and perform a repertoire of new tango music composed by Owen Salomé (Logan, Brisbane, Ipswich, Surfers Paradise, Redlands, Maleny, Caloundra).
  • Ms Janet Ambrose - $12,234 for the creation of new work, Mangrove, showcasing community Elders and exploring their stories of multicultural Australia including the traditional custodians the Yuwibara, Widi, Biriah, Jangga, and Barada Barna peoples (Mackay).
  • Burdekin Shire Council - $29,550 to develop Arts by the Sparks, a captivating art installation project that will feature as part of the opening night program at the Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival in May 2023 (Home Hill).
  • BLAK SOCIAL - $40,000 for the pilot program Blak Narrative Music Videos – Volume One connecting First Nations artists with First Nations musicians, Selve, to collaborate on and produce three interconnected narrative music videos (Brisbane, Burleigh).
  • The Jo Ze spArks - $29,880 for the project USULAL (working title), exploring the Indigenous female form through mythology of the Torres Strait and seeking to support the strength and resilience of Indigenous female bodies (Cairns).
  • Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance - $16,550 for a 10-month Sub Tropic Visual Artist Residency program for a Sunshine Coast-based early to mid-career visual artist, which will culminate in a solo exhibition at Caloundra Regional Gallery (Caloundra).
  • Clark Crystal - $24,305 for John Red Kelly, a celebration of diverse theatre, presented by Broadbeach inclusive theatre company Running Duck with a live orchestra at HOTA (Surfers Paradise).
  • Miss Katina Olsen - $60,000 for Kombumerri on Country and creative development of new dance work Preparing Ground (Surfers Paradise).
  • Counterpilot - $60,000 for the final stage creative development and world premiere of NOT A CULT*, a new performance work by Counterpilot (Brisbane, Townsville).
  • Access Arts - $60,000 for the Undercover Artist Festival 2023, Australia’s premier performing arts and disability festival, produced and performed by artist with disability (Brisbane).
  • Brisbane Powerhouse - $58,000 a new festival ΩHM providing a significant commissioning platform for local artists alongside a national and internal program celebrating adventurous approaches to sound, music and light (Brisbane).
  • Museum of Brisbane - $59,000 for the Brisbane Art Design (BAD) Festival 2023, which will highlight Brisbane’s vibrant community of Ceramic and Design artisans (Brisbane).
  • Tom Oliver Productions Pty Ltd - $59,060 for the Wynnum Fringe Festival 2022 (Brisbane).
  • Dots and Loops - $46,000 for live music and arts festival Dots+Loops NONSTOP at the Tivoli and an experience and mentoring Fellowship Program 2022 (Brisbane).
  • Dr Valerie Keenan - $29,656 for the exhibition Wild life in the Herbert (Tully Ingham).
  • Footstomp Music - $43,000 for the presentation of live music indigenous storytelling event Deadly Hearts, highlighting past, present and emerging artists (Surfers Paradise).
  • Noosa Regional Gallery - $56,000 for a 30-day outdoor sculptural event Floating Land: Us and Them (Noosa).
  • QMusic - $59,000 for First Nations House, a place for conversation and collaboration at BIGSOUND 2022 (Brisbane).
  • Whitsundays Arts Festival Inc. - $17,017 for the welcome ceremony and multicultural program as part of WAF 2022’s Festivities Day (Airlie Beach).
  • Multicap Limited - $15,192 for A Cup of the Curious, a curated installation and week-long program of work presented by people with disability from across Queensland (Brisbane).
  • Mrs Michelle Connery - $60,000 for FiestaNQ, a two-weekend celebration of music, established musicians and local stars with pop-up performances (Brisbane, Townsville).
  • Brisbane Cabaret Festival Limited - $50,000 for Cabfest '23 - A Place for Art, Music & Storytelling across multiple Queensland venues (Brisbane, Redlands, Mackay, Bundaberg, Caloundra, Gladstone).

QASP Round 7 funding recipients for Arts Advantage

  • Tropical Arts Association Inc. - $58,400 for the 1930’s noir inspired rendition of the historic Shakespearean epic Tony & Cleo, staged by a cast of diverse and inclusive artists through Tropical Arts (Cairns).
  • Mrs Cilla Pershouse - $60,000 for a children’s theatre mentorship and showcase program in flood affected communities throughout the Wide Bay-Burnett regions (Woowoonga, Reids Creek, Coalstoun Lakes, Biggenden).
  • Pormpuraaw Art & Culture Inc - $10,800 for a three-week printing workshop and artist development course, with final works to be exhibited at art fairs, gallery venues and online (Pormpuraaw).
  • Chrysalis Projects - $25,852 to develop and produce Your Inner Circles 2022 with at least 16 live events and an interactive online arts platform to amplify community awareness of gendered violence (Brisbane, Online).
  • Queensland Eye Institute Foundation - $33,112 for Last Seen 2023, a multi-sensory art exhibition and concert that delivers inclusive access to the arts using music, touch, audio and assistive technologies (Brisbane).
  • Casus Circus International - $55,900 to present Auntie's Fiafia Night in 2023, including 10 weeks of development with Pacifica community groups for Logan (Logan).
  • Mirndiyan Gununa Aboriginal Corporation - $60,000 for the Mornington Island Dance Festival 2023 (Mornington Island).
  • Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre - $ 54,075 to present WIRED DIFFERENTLY a new immersive and intimate work Screech Disability Arts and Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre. (Brisbane)
  • Wesley Mission Queensland - $59,600 to produce Everyday Adaptations, a community arts project addressing social disconnection and the climate crisis through creative placemaking in the North of Fortitude Valley.
