Savannah Way, a new art trail in Queensland’s North

The new Savannah Way Art Trail, featuring large scale artworks, was launched in November and is set to become a cultural tourism drawcard in Queensland’s North.

The contemporary installations are located in Burketown, Croydon, Normanton, Georgetown, Karumba and Doomadgee, and together they create the Savannah Way Art Trail.

Each abstract sculpture tells a unique story that is relevant to each of the six townships, showcasing First Nations cultures, and celebrating place.

The artworks were created and installed by artists Glen Manning and Kathy Daly (Manning Daly Art) in consultation with local government, community and First Nations artists, and will deliver cultural tourism and economic benefits for North Queensland communities.

The Savannah Way Art Trail is supported by Arts Queensland through the Regional Arts Services Network and the Regional Arts Development Fund with contributions from the department of Premier and Cabinet’s Year of Outback Tourism Events Program and DCHDE’s Monsoon Trough fund.
