The Queensland Arts Industry Sector Development Plan is a collaborative industry development framework for arts and culture throughout the State.

The first triennial Plan 2007-2009 was developed after extensive state-wide industry and community consultation and set a clear direction for government and the arts sector to work together to develop arts and culture in Queensland. The plan was published in four artform specific volumes:

Evaluation

In late 2008, Arts Queensland undertook an evaluation of the Queensland Arts Industry Sector Development Plan. The evaluation created an invaluable opportunity for the arts and cultural sector to provide feedback to Arts Queensland and to share stories of success and progress towards the implementation of the Plan.

The evaluation employed a range of feedback methods, including an independently conducted online survey as well as focus groups, face-to-face meetings and written submissions.

The findings of the evaluation are available in a number of formats including publications and Powerpoint presentations that can be used by arts industry partners with their own organisations or stakeholders.

Please consider the findings of the evaluation presented in the Building on Success publication. Feedback from the arts industry is vital to the development of the Queensland Arts Industry Sector Development Plan for 2010-2012. Your views on the proposed goals and future direction for the arts and culture in Queensland are valued and can be provided via the evaluation template below or through the state-wide information sessions (DOC 33KB) to be conducted by Arts Queensland over the next few months.

  • Evaluation Report (PDF 3.5MB) The complete evaluation report including information on evaluation methodology, data tables, details of findings and sector feedback, vignettes highlighting sector achievements and proposed 2010-2012 framework
  • Building on Success (PDF 106KB) An overview that summarises the key findings and recommendations of the evaluation and outlines the proposed framework for the 2010-2012 Plan
  • Feedback Template 1 – Key strategic questions (DOC 39KB) Share your views on the key strategic questions that will shape the 2010-2012 Plan
  • Feedback Template 2 – Goals, objectives and strategies (DOC 79KB) Share your views on the proposed goals, objectives and strategies for 2010-2012 or propose your own strategies and initiatives

Local Government Arts and Culture Reference Group

Arts Queensland is calling for Expressions of Interest from senior officers in local councils to become members of a Local Government Arts and Culture Reference Group.

The Local Government Arts and Culture Reference Group will serve to strengthen the relationship between state and local governments for the purpose of effectively positioning arts and culture, and will play a key role in the implementation of the Queensland Arts Industry Sector Development Plan 2010–2012 and the Regional Arts and Culture Strategy.

A representative group of up to 15 officers will be selected on the basis of their respective roles within local government, professional experience, knowledge and networks.

It is anticipated that the Reference Group will convene for the first time in early 2010.

If you are interested in applying to become a member of the Local Government Arts and Culture Reference Group, please read the Terms of Reference (DOC 123KB) and Expression of Interest background information (DOC 115KB).

To nominate for membership, please download and complete the Expression of Interest template (DOC 129KB) and return it with a current two-page CV to Arts Queensland by Friday 16 October 2009.

Sector Plan Reference Group

To assist Arts Queensland with the plan's development and implementation, a Sector Plan Reference Group (DOC 39MB)(SPRG) has been set up. This representative group was selected on the basis of their achievements, sector knowledge, experience and networks, and availability.

We are confident we have selected a well informed group of strategic thinkers who represent the diverse interests of the arts and cultural sector across Queensland. One of the first tasks for the SPRG will be to provide feedback during the drafting of the new Sector Plan which comes into effect in 2010.
