Home to some of Queensland’s and Australia’s most dynamic arts organisations, JWAC is a creative space for exciting visual arts programming and for the development and presentation of original and innovative contemporary performance works, including cabaret, circus, dance, music, spoken word and multi-disciplinary arts.

JWAC tenants include Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts, AusDance Queensland, Australasian Dance Collective, BlakDance, Circa, Creative Partnerships Australia, Flying Arts Alliance, Institute of Modern Art (IMA), Musica Viva, Outer Space and The Little Red Company.

Opened in 2001, JWAC is owned and operated by the Queensland Government and managed by Arts Queensland. Learn more about the history of JWAC

JWAC underwent a $3.1 million redevelopment in 2018 and completed in 2020, which created a new gallery space featuring the work of Queensland artists, an updated entry and facade incorporating night-time digital art projections, a new foyer layout with fitout and finishes, new offices and more spaces for tenants, artists and arts workers to meet and come together.
