Conveniently located in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley around 5 minutes from the CBD, the Judith Wright Arts Centre (JWAC) lives and breathes creativity, both as a performing arts venue and a home to internationally-recognised arts organisations and creative industry tenants.

Gallery space

Photos by Cian Sanders courtesy of Outer Space.Outer Space has been selected through a Queensland Government Expression of Interest (EOI) process to manage and activate the Judith Wright Arts Centre (JWAC) gallery space in 2021, supported by a programming budget of up to $100,000 to showcase Queensland artists. Outer Space will immediately start its programming of the JWAC gallery. The first exhibition opened April 2021.

Outer Space is a not-for-profit contemporary arts organisation with a track record of collaborating with artists and arts workers to develop, make, and present critically engaged creative practice in a supportive professional environment.

Outer Space’s tenancy and programming of the gallery will contribute to making the venue a vibrant site engaged in creation, innovation, collaboration and arts presentation.

Performance space

The Performance Space is one of Brisbane’s most flexible theatre spaces offering 3 core configurations with a maximum capacity of 300. It is a popular option for events requiring raked theatre seating, cabaret style, or the flexibility of a flat floor layout.

Offering high quality sound and audio visual equipment managed by our professional technical crew, many musicians and performers remark that they rarely sound better than when playing a show at the JWAC.

The same high-specification production values are applied to a broad range of events and productions from circus to conferences, screenings to seminars, and art exhibitions to awards nights.

Theatre Rehearsal Room

The Theatre Rehearsal Room is a medium sized space for rehearsal and development activity, also suited to meetings, keynote presentations and smaller conference or events. The space is also well suited to small scale and non-standard performance/presentation activities. It has a maximum capacity of 80.

The space is fitted with an audio and lighting system and features a professional grade sprung tarkett dance floor. Twin barres and full length mirrors are fitted behind blockout drapes.

Multipurpose Room

Ideal for at-home professionals and short-stay business people, this is a great space to host small consultations, give presentations or stage a meeting with clients.

Audio visual equipment is available for use including projectors and electronic white boards. Visitors are able to configure the space to suit their specific needs.

The Foyer

In addition to live productions and performances, these highly flexible and licensed spaces can accommodate film shoots and screenings, workshops and seminars, creative meetings of minds, major product launches, tradeshows, arts festivals, awards nights and conferences.
