Queensland creatives get a great stART

Independent Queensland artists and arts workers impacted by COVID-19 restrictions will receive financial relief with more than $700,000 awarded in Arts Queensland's stART grants.
The stART program is funding 213 recipients from across Queensland for the development of arts and creative projects, producer services, technician or fees and equipment purchase.
In response to demand, stART funding was increased from $500,000 to more than $700,000 to widen support for artists and artsworkers.
Developed by Arts Queensland in close consultation with the local arts sector, the stART program offered $3000 grants to local independent creative practitioners, including artists, artist collaborators, producers, designers, technicians, freelancers and other arts workers, whose employment had been reduced or ceased due to the pandemic.
Arts Queensland engaged 10 delivery partners to distribute the stART grants across the state.

Fifty-one per cent of QMusic’s stART funding was shared among applicants from the Gold Coast to Central Queensland to as far north as Cape York and the Daintree, ensuring statewide reach.
